Values

The old Blackstone Hotel in Chicago is being redone as super-expensive condos. The sign outside reads, "a royal residence for those who value life and success."

It's not the seven figure price tag that's keeping me from moving there. It's my death- and failure-based value system.

Attention, National Republican Leadership!

Look, people. I dislike Hillary Clinton as much as the next non-deranged person. But I can't get worked up about her comparing the administration to Alfred E. Neuman for what she feels is its "What, Me Worry?" attitude. The "those mean angry Dems are picking on us" theme would hold more water if you didn't currently control the White House, both branches of Congress, a majority of state governorships, and (soon) the U.S. Supreme Court.

You can't simultaneously control everything and be victims. Buck up.

Attention, Democrats!

You may self-identify as "liberal" if you like. You may not self-identify as "progressive". People who do not share your views on redistributive taxation or national health care are not against progress, they just don't agree with you as to what constitutes it.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Attention, Republicans!

Please, please, please stop using the word "Democrat" as an adjective. "Democrat" is a noun. "Democratic" is an adjective. I know this is tough to remember, so the always-helpful Mr. Green Ministry of Grammar has a couple of examples for you:

WRONG: "Those goddamn Democrat senators shouldn't filibuster the president's judicial nominees."

RIGHT: "Darth Rove has made an example of that Democratic senator by using the Force to choke the life out of him."

Thank you for your kind consideration, my Republic friends.
